Life update

Hi, I have not stayed truth to my word of writing frequently on this blog at all. Life is been busier and a lot of my hobbies and interests have changed recently. I still hang around on Telegram if you ever want to contact me there but I can’t promise that I will reoly soon.

What I’m doing now

I’m currently working full time as a sys admin at a company. I always wanted to work as a programmer, in fact, I had an internship as a Full Stack Developer working with React and Next.js. However, life took me to a different path and my current job moatly centers around managing servers running Linux and a little bit of Ansible.
Seeing the landscape for developers now it’s quite different from the outside. I see everyone being worried that SWE will disappear forever and it’s sad to read that my dream job might actually die eventually? Heck, my current job might die too lol.
I’ve been using a lot of Claude Code at work. I feel like my background in software development, has given me an advantage to develop cool tools really quickly that make my life so much easier at work.

The future

The future feels uncertain as someone who work in tech. ChatGPT came out when I was still in university and a lot of things have changed since. I personally believe starting out my career in an AI powered world gives me an advantage to adapt quickly, since I don’t really have to learn the tools that I’ve used since its inception but I can’t help but feel worried sometimes of where this is going to end. I don’t want to sound pessimistic but even though I’m happy with my current job, I wonder if I should’ve picked a more AI-resistant career.

Either way, I still love tech and I will never give up learning more because in my personal experience, it’s still super valuable to have learned things and not let AI handle everything.
